Ebène, 1 July 2019: The National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC) is organising a training workshop on the theme “Prepare your Organisation for Industry 4.0” at the Holiday Inn on Thursday 4 July with the objective of showing participants how this new trend will affect both society and business.
The training is conducted by Dr. Andrea Ferrari, the Head of the Innovation Strategy team at the RINA Consulting Industry Business Unit, Genoa, Italy. Dr. Ferrary earlier had delivered a talk on Industry 4.0 at the NPCC in May.
The one-day training workshop is designed to provide a comprehensive view and insightful approach on the potential of Industry 4.0. Participants will be exposed to a host of solutions to help solve complex problems and issues in organisations.
Participants will also be able to understand how industries are continuously transforming themselves amid the current trend of automation and data exchange. The workshop will provide participants a thorough overview of how organisations can benefit from this new trend and will offer a practical insight of the approach needed to execute and deliver results for a productive environment.
According to the Executive Director of the NPCC, Mr. Deepak Balgobin, Mauritius is presently in an era of economic transformation, for which local industries have to gear up to face upcoming challenges. “Industry 4.0 will no doubt revolutionise the entire Mauritian business landscape in the years to come. We cannot afford to ignore the breakaway that it is all going to entail with the emergence of Industry 4.0. This is why we have to prepare our society and industries for this new trend,” he points out.
The Platform Industry 4.0, a German firm and one of the global pioneers of Industry 4.0, defines the term as “the intelligent networking of machines and processes in industry with the aid of information and communication technology”. It refers to the fusion of digitalisation with traditional industrial processes that result in intelligent value chains and product lifecycles starting with development, go through manufacturing, assembly, product delivery and maintenance, and end with recycling.
